For many people
it is hard to imagine eating breakfast at a hotel in your home town, whereas
eating lunch at a restaurant in the very same town is quite normal (lunches
are often very good value for money in Sweden). We, the members of IDONEUS,
love to combine our meetings with a breakfast at a hotel in our home town
Jönköping. For those of you who have not yet discovered the charm
of getting up at 6am and go downtown for your morning coffee, and of course
for all of you who are wondering where to stay at your next visit to Jönköping,
we have had breakfast at five of the biggest hotels in Jönköping
and are hereby glad to share our very personal experiences with you. If
you have any experiences you want to share with us, please mail them to:

Home Hotel Victoria
The name is not only
a gimmick, this is about as close to home you can get in a foreign town.
Unfortunately, this also goes for the size of the breakfast table: I can
almost fix a breakfast like this at home if I am hungry a Sunday morning.
But of course, I cannot beat the feeling of a winter garden.
John Bauer
This is the place
to live if you want to get rid of non hotel guests at brekfast. The dining
room is small and cosy, at least if you are staying at the hotel. Another
reason for living here is to get peanut butter for breakfast.
Scandic Hotel Elmia
If you want to spend
as much time as possible at Elmia, you should stay here, it is crawling
distance to the main fair entrance. The breakfast fulfills the basic
desires but the dining room is far from cosy. Take the opportunity to squeeze
your own orange juice.
Scandic Hotel Portalen
Elegance and charm
in a subtle way I just can not put my finger on. I would gladly go here
again for breakfast.
Stora Hotellet
The undisputed winner!
Worth going here for the view alone. The great choice of dishes and the
style in every detail (well, almost) turns the morning into a sheer pleasure.
By the way, if you are staying at the hotel, visit their restaurant in
the evening - it is also one of the best in town.
And the winner is:
STORA
HOTELLET.
